Develon appeared with many dealers together for the first time at the Galabau show in Germany! Almost all of the dealers in Germany were present at the international trade fair Galabau 2024 from 11 to 14 September in Nürnberg, together with the team at the new Develon location in Mannheim, which itself looks after the Rhine-Neckar and Rhine-Main regions.
The appearance was jointly developed by Develon and the dealers, from the trade fair stand to the machines and attachments to be exhibited.
Develon showcased a range of compact machines for gardening and landscaping, including the 10.7 t DX100W-7 wheeled excavator with oil quick and several attachments, including a bucket separator and mulcher, as well as another machine with tiltrotator and a profile bucket and 3D system. This wheeled excavator is particularly suitable for use in municipal services, gardening and landscaping. For these jobs, the DX100W-7 offers the best compromise between compactness and manoeuvrability, complemented by excellent productivity and comfort. It is specially designed for working in confined spaces and the DX100W-7 can be offered with four-wheel steering and crab options with two-wheel steering as standard.
Develon presented its innovative and industry-leading machines and digital solutions for the first time at Intermat 2024 in the French capital Paris from April 24 to 26. Develon also invited trade partners from all over Europe to its more than 2,000 square meter stand. They were given the exclusive opportunity to take a close look at the entire Develon portfolio and talk shop in person with representatives of the Management Board.
Large and innovative portfolio impresses customers
The dealers were impressed by the presentation of the new Develon brand identity under the motto “Powered by Innovation”. Stephan Kohn, Sales Director at Ummenhofer Baumaschinen GmbH, enthused after visiting the largest French meeting of the construction industry in Paris: “That was a great experience!” Managing Director Daniel Ummenhofer also accompanied the delegation.
The leading provider of construction machinery and services from Pfullendorf took the opportunity to show three of its customers the benefits of Develon products directly at the trade fair stand. “Our customers got a good impression of how large and innovative the Develon portfolio is, and that the company continues to step on the gas and constantly drive its developments forward,” said Stephan Kohn, summarizing his impressions.
A look into the future of resource-saving machines
In addition to the current product highlights, Develon gave its stand guests a glimpse into the near future of emission-free and low-emission vehicles. The focus was clearly on new innovative machines and technologies that contribute to CO2 reduction and comprehensive sustainability. Visitors to the trade fair were impressed by the DL250-FCEV wheel loader, for example. This can be equipped with a hydrogen-powered fuel cell power pack via a versatile single platform design and is then equivalent to a fuel cell electric vehicle. Alternatively, the installation of a battery pack also enables the transition to a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle).
The group from Ummenhofer Baumaschinen GmbH found the practical demonstrations in the demonstration area on the outside grounds particularly illustrative. The DL420CVT-7 wheel loader was particularly impressive here, with its CVT transmission enabling considerable fuel savings. The DL420CVT-7 also offers unique advantages in terms of operational safety. This is because it is equipped with the “transparent bucket” safety system, in which two cameras monitor the area in front of the bucket. The images are transmitted to a special screen in the driver’s cab and perfectly illuminate the blind spot in front of the bucket. New smart features such as object detection further increase operational safety.
Concept-X 2.0 in action for the first time
As with the innovative wheel loader model, the autonomously operating machines in the “Concept-X 2-0” series also combine the advantages of fuel-saving technologies and innovative safety developments. The DD100-CX autonomous bulldozer and the DX225-CX autonomous crawler excavator were on show in action for the first time. The latter Concept-X 2.0 excavator is particularly fuel-efficient thanks to 3D control and Full Electric Hydraulic (FEH) technology.
The Concept-X 2.0 technology, together with other smart solutions such as the transparent bucket or the state-of-the-art wireless fleet monitoring system Develon Fleet Management, underpins Develon’s technological leadership, said Stephan Kohn. He was particularly impressed by the many solutions for greater operational safety: “The safety aspect is a top priority for Develon. This is also very well received by our customers.”
“Flying dinner” – an extraordinary experience
Ummenhofer’s visit to Develon at Intermat 2024 was accompanied by a number of social and cultural events. First and foremost, the travel group from Baden-Württemberg found the “Flying Dinner”, to which Develon had invited in the evening, to be an extraordinary experience. This provided the opportunity to make new contacts and exchange ideas with Develon experts in a relaxed atmosphere.
The construction of Develon’s new German headquarters at Lembacher Strasse 30 in Mannheim is progressing according to plan. Earthworks on the approximately 10,650 square metre site began in the first week of March. The next steps will involve completing the necessary work, such as ground improvement and preparing for the start of building construction work. The property will be ready for occupation in the 4th quarter of 2024.
Innovative customer and training centre
With its new headquarters, Develon is setting the course for further growth in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A modern Develon customer and training centre is being built on the site. In total, Develon plans to create more than 40 new jobs here in the region with its innovative, digital and sustainable machines, says Andreas M. Lohner, Managing Director of HD Hyundai Infracore Deutschland GmbH.
Customer support ensured with transitional location
The new construction project is being planned and realised by Adler Immobilien Investment, while the earthworks are being carried out by Grewe GmbH.
Develon is using an alternative location in Mannheim for the transitional period until the new site is completed. Operations have already started here in March 2023: “Both the target location in Lembacher Straße and our interim location at Seckenheimer Landstraße 210-220 in Mannheim are impressive due to their optimal location and quick accessibility. By opting for a fully equipped transitional location with a workshop that will go into operation in June 2023, a well-stocked spare parts warehouse, a rental park with the latest generation of machines and a wide range of new machines, we can already provide our customers and partners in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region with fast, pragmatic and reliable support,” explains Lohner.

Develon, formerly Doosan Construction Equipment, made an impressive first appearance at the STEINEXPO 2023 Exhibition from 23-26 August 2023. STEINEXPO provides an ideal meeting place for the national and international raw materials and building materials industry and was held again in Europe’s largest basalt quarry, operated by Mitteldeutsche Hartstein-Industrie AG, in Homberg/Nieder-Ofleiden in the state of Hesse in Germany.
The show provides an impressive stage for leading manufacturers of machinery, suppliers of mineral processing technology and add-on equipment as well as service providers to present their machines and systems, industry innovations and service offerings.
The Develon stand display at STEINEXPO focused on the company’s crawler excavators, wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks (ADTs). The combination of these three machine types offers customers from the quarry, mine and construction sectors complete solutions for excavation, loading and transport work, as well as meeting the needs of many application types from general earthworks to the production of aggregates and building materials, all from a single source.
Demo Area the Highlight of the Develon Display
The Demonstration Area was definitely the highlight of the Develon STEINEXPO 2023 display, where the company showcased the perfect interaction of its DX800LC-7 80 tonne crawler excavator, DL550-7 wheel loader and, for the first time at the show, the new DA45-7 4×4 ADT.
The DX800LC-7 is the second largest crawler excavator in the current Develon range, alongside the new DX1000LC-7 100 tonne model. The operating weight of the DX800LC-7 is 79.5 tonne and it is powered by a Perkins 2506J six-cylinder engine with an output of 402 kW (547 HP). The DX800LC-7 has the highest hydraulic flow for this size of machine, providing best-in-class performance, with higher productivity, lower fuel consumption and smoother controls.
The DX800LC-7 worked in the Demo Area with the DL550-7 wheel loader, part of Develon’s award-winning ‘DL-7’ family of wheel loaders. In the DL550-7, the powerful hydraulic system allows it to work quickly and efficiently. The Scania DC13 283 kW (385 HP) engine in the DL550-7 delivers optimal power while meeting Stage V environmental regulations. The combination of these features gives this Develon wheel loader excellent balance, ensuring optimal bucket loading with every cycle of the loader’s 5.7 m³ bucket. The lifting arm with Z-kinematics provides excellent breakout forces and lifting capacities, especially for heavy materials.
The DA45-7 4×4 ADT is Develon’s first dump truck with 4×4 drive. The new 4×4 version of the DA45-7 ADT is intended to challenge rigid dump trucks in the 40-tonne class. With its 4×4 design, the new version of the DA45-7 is better at handling bad roads, smoother driving surfaces and steeper terrain than rigid dump trucks. The DA45-7 4×4 ADT also has a better turning radius than comparable rigid dump trucks.
In the Static Display
The static display on the Develon stand included the company’s DX490LC-7 crawler excavator, the DL420CVT-7 wheel loader and a DA30-7 ADT.
The DX490LC-7 crawler excavator is powered by a Stage V-compliant Scania DC13 diesel engine, which provides 257 kW (349.5 HP) of power. The increased power of the DC13 engine is combined with a Virtual Bleed Off (VBO) hydraulic system (D-Ecopower+) and the new generation Smart Power Control Technology (SPC3), to optimise productivity and fuel consumption, depending on the mode selected.
The DL420CVT-7 has a SCANIA DC9 engine with an output of 240 kW (327 HP) at 1800 rpm, that complies with Stage V emissions standards. High-pressure fuel injection and precise timing ensure highly efficient fuel combustion and a perfect engine power stroke. The DA30-7 ADT has a maximum dump capacity of 16.8 tonne (without tailgate) with a maximum payload of 28 metric tonne.
Convincing performance: André Voß Erdbau und Transport GmbH purchases five Develon wheel loaders with CVT transmission
André Voß Erdbau und Transport GmbH offers its customers a wide range of services in the fields of transport, logistics, disposal and delivery of road construction materials under the motto “We move your ideas”. In the recent past, two Develon wheel loaders with CVT transmission and the outstanding service of the dealer ATLAS Rostock had already made an impression on the company. The experience was so positive that the company has now purchased five DL420-7CVT wheel loaders from Develon. The DL420-7CVT uses a CVT (continuously variable transmission), which significantly increases fuel efficiency compared to a machine with a torque converter.
Reliable and efficient
For three years, two wheel loaders of the previous model had already been working in the company for about 2,300 operating hours each per year. Martin Schmidt, Managing Director of André Voß Erdbau & Transport GmbH, is highly satisfied: “The Develon machines work absolutely reliably and with very good fuel efficiency.” For example, the average fuel consumption is just 13.4 l/h. “In addition, we have had an absolutely reliable partner in our dealer ATLAS Rostock for many years, on whom we can rely at all times.”
One of the main reasons for the machines’ excellent fuel efficiency is their CVT transmission. Dirk Mysch, Sales Manager at Develon, explains: “This transmission combines the advantages of a mechanical and hydrostatic transmission and eliminates the disadvantages of both systems. The variable transmission changes continuously from hydrostatic to mechanical drive as the speed increases and depending on the requirements of the application. The advantages of the system include, in particular, the excellent traction offered by a hydrostatic transmission and the ability to drive over longer distances with a purely mechanical one. The fuel savings of up to 30 per cent are due to the lower engine speed required to achieve maximum speed or traction compared to conventional transmissions.”iverse range of applications
At the handover of the five new wheel loaders, the atmosphere was relaxed and positive. Representatives of André Voss Erdbau & Transport GmbH, ATLAS Rostock and Develon were present. Martin Schmidt: “It is not an everyday occurrence for us to buy five wheel loaders at once. A very special day – also for us.” The company André Voss Erdbau & Transport GmbH has a broad spectrum of activities, ranging from specialist waste disposal company, Europe-wide heavy transports, logistics services to trading in bulk goods. The company has its own terrestrial deposits for the extraction of sands and gravels as well as quay facilities in Stralsund and Wolgast for the delivery of other marine building materials from the Baltic Sea and imports.
Accordingly, the areas of application of the new wheel loaders will also be diverse. Their main tasks: loading trucks, mixing bulk materials, coating crushing plants and direct mining in sand pits.
Trusting partnership
André Voss Erdbau & Transport GmbH and the ATLAS Rostock dealer have enjoyed a trusting partnership for 15 years. Says Schmidt: “A good dealer relationship is almost as important as good machines. With ATLAS Rostock, both are right.” The good cooperation is also a result of the deep mutual understanding. And if there should ever be a machine breakdown – which has never been the case with Develon wheel loaders so far – ATLAS Rostock provides a replacement machine immediately so that work can continue quickly.
ATLAS Rostock
ATLAS Rostock GmbH was founded in 1999 by Ulf Hähnlein. The company currently employs 25 people and 3 trainees at the Rostock, Reddelich and Stralsund locations. Ulf Hähnlein, Managing Director ATLAS Rostock: “We provide our customers with a wide range of new and used machines and equipment for sale or rent. In addition, we modify construction machinery according to our customers’ project requirements.” The dealer’s range of services includes, in particular, professional advice, first-class service, 24/7 on-call service and a repair and spare parts service.
